The late-night wars may be on summer break until September's debut of The Conan O'Brien Show, but this morning's Emmy nominations announcement gave Conan a mini W. O'Brien's short-lived incarnation of The Tonight Show picked up a nod in the best variety, music or comedy category, while The Jay Leno Show (and Letterman's and Kimmel's) were left out.

Author Augusten Burroughs is all too familiar with the disastrous and absurd — to the point that all six of his memoirs (starting with the hugely successful Running with Scissors in 2002) have veered so far from the conventional that critics have questioned whether they’re even true.

Apparently, Burroughs has a knack for attracting chaos even post-youth.
