The network won the night in viewers (14.2 million) and was a competitive No. 2 to ABC in the adults 18-49 demo (ABC's 5.1 rating/13 share to CBS' 4.5/12) as "Minds" and "CSI: NY" hit season-high ratings.

UPN also looked sharp at 8 p.m. with "America's Next Top Model" (5.5 million, 2.6/7) hitting season-high ratings and winning the hour outright in adults 18-49 (2.9/9) and women 18-34 (4.6/13).

ABC still had the big Kahuna of the night in "Lost." The 9 p.m. drama brought in 20 million viewers and 8.3/20 in adults 18-49, though it came as something of a surprise that the heavily promoted episode that featured the demise of a cast member didn't have more traction with the "Lost" faithful.

CBS' "Minds" (15.1 million, 4.3/11) did a yeoman's job of building on its 8:30 p.m. lead-in, "Yes, Dear" (9.3 million, 3.0/8). At 10 p.m., "CSI: NY" (18.7 million, 6.4/17) reaped the rewards of being the second half of a crossover storyline that began Monday on "CSI: Miami."

ABC's 10 p.m. freshman "Invasion" (9.8 million, 3.9/10) hit its lowest ebb of season to date. NBC's "Law & Order" (10.8 million, 3.6/9) couldn't keep up either.

Fox opened the night at No. 1 in adults 18-49 with "That '70s Show" (7 million, 3.4/10), but hit the skids at 8:30 p.m. with the return of
Pamela Anderson comedy "Stacked" (5.1 million, 2.2/6). Fox perked back up at 9 p.m. with "Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy" (8.2 million, 3.9/9), which was no match for "Lost" or "Minds," but easily topped NBC's "The Apprentice:
Martha Stewart" (6.5 million, 2.3/6).

WB Network had a ho-hum night all around with 8 p.m.'s "One Tree Hill" (3.3 million) and 9 p.m. repeat of "Related" (1.8 million).
