This afternoon our pals over at Sleepover Shows posted a few videos from our fund raiser back in May, an effort that helped raise some coin for the southern communities decimated by tornados. Together, The Phoenix along with SOS and fellow music blog Ryan's Smashing Life downed more than our fair share of Great Scott picklebacks as THE WANDAS, LARCENIST, and OLD JACK provided a bluesy, Boston-flavored alt-country soundtrack for charity, with all proceeds from the door benefitting the Red Cross.
After their wild ride through last month’s Rock And Roll Rumble at T.T. The Bear’s, we’re familiar with the underdog tale of OLDJACK and how Dan Nicklin’s crew overwhelmed the festivities with an assault of awesome, wild-carding their way into the final round. So what comes next for these blue-eyed soul rockers? OldJack are back May 14 at the cozy Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, helping friends The Rationales celebrate the release of new album The Distance In Between
With all the global news of the past few weeks -- from birthers to bin Laden to the Royal Dreading, to borrow a quip from Morrissey -- it’s easy to forget that the southern part of our fair country is in shambles. The destruction created by tornadoes last month is still being felt in the southern region of the US.
