Big Apple Circus
ninigret park
A tuxedoed mannequin comes to life and tries his hand at a tango. A pack of trained dogs goes rogue but creates an even deeper entertainment. A classical ballerina uses her partner's torso as her stage. Add 'em up and it's easy to determine that we're discussing the Big Apple Circus. Each year the New York institution brings its intimate offerings (the seats are very close to the action) to Ninigret Park, Route 1A, Charlestown. This year's theme takes its cues from a Shakespeare quote. "Play On" finds a way to bring out the musical aspects of the performers. A tightrope walker plucks her string; a clown conducts the crowd. It's up to you to see what the jugglers and trapeze artists have in mind. Those who have attended in years past know that there's a certain magic to the old-time vibe. Shows run through the 12th | $42-$16 | 401.364.0890 | bigapplecircus.org
