Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players
firehouse 13
After years of presenting several of the most whimsical travelogues ever devised, the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players should need no introduction. But if you haven't heard about this trio - mom Tina, dad Jason, daughter Rachel - Jason explained it this way to the San Francisco Chronicle: "At the beginning of the day, we're a pop-rock band. At the end of the day, we're also a pop-rock band, but it's what happens in the intervening 24 hours that makes us different. We're an indie, vaudeville, conceptual art, pop-rock, family slide-show band. We deal in found slide collections and turn the lives of anonymous dead strangers into pop rock musical exposes of lives they've never led. We reinterpret their lives and business meetings through the miracle of pop music." Have the woes of the economy got you cooped up in a staycation? The chance to be shown the nearest faraway place is being offered at Firehouse 13, 41 Central Avenue, Providence. The [Viennagram:] and Humanwine share the bill; Rachel Trachtenburg opens with some musical musings of her own at 7:30 pm | $10 | 401.270.1801 | firehouse13.org
