PORT CITY MUSIC HALL must be doing something right. Along with the TWO series, the venue has now scored the popular CLASH OF THE TITANS night, whereby local musicians team up to pit one classic band against another in a faux battle of the bands. It's moved from the BIG EASY (which recently debuted its own COVER TO COVER series) to the Empire to the Port City on Wednesday nights. At the very least, it won't be competing with the Two series on Tuesdays anymore. Things kicked off Wednesday, March 2, with the Stones vs. Thin Lizzy. Next up is the Ramones vs. the Clash.

• We missed the show last week at Boru, but we're intrigued by the FORGETTABLES, featuring keyboardist JASON COHEN and percussionist YAHUBA of the RYAN MONTBLEAU BAND, JASON SPOONER TRIO rhythm section ADAM FREDERICK (bass) and REED CHAMBERS (drums), and MAX CANTLIN on guitar (GYPSY TAILWIND, SLY-CHI). Sounds like a fun time of soul instrumentals and old school hip hop.

• Looks like VENUE is toast. We're not happy to hear the news, but we can't say we're surprised. That space has been cursed ever since RAOUL'S shut its doors. If you can name all the restaurants and bars that have been in that space since 2000, you've got a better memory than we do.
