GOP Women Success Stories?

John Hawkins, who runs RightWingNews and has a column at Townhall.com, and is just a rung below RedState/CNN's Erick Erickson on the conservative blogosphere heirarchy of influence, wrote last week about the "Year of the Republican Woman." As my regular readers know, I am, let's say skeptical about that, but hey we'll know Tuesday night.

But what struck me was his list of "conservative heroines" gaining "increasing prominence" (in addition to Sarah Palin):

Michele Bachmann, Ann Coulter, Mona Charen, Michelle Malkin, Dana Loesch, Hannah Giles, Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Tabitha Hale, Liz Cheney, Lori Ziganto, S.E. Cupp, Pamela Geller, Tammy Bruce, Debra Burlingame, Dana Perino, Melissa Clouthier, Kathryn Jean-Lopez, Star Parker, Laura Ingraham, and Mary Katharine Ham.

What's so fascinating is how few of these women have ever actually, you know, done anything in Republican politics. Of those 20 women, 2 have ever served in elected office: McMorris Rodgers, and the ludicrous Bachmann. The other 18 all make their living selling opinions to the conservative marketplace -- and as far as I know, only two of them have held any government position of any kind, both in public affairs, not policy or administration: Perino, who was W.'s last press secretary; and Charen, whose last real job was in the 1980s.

I'm not knocking all of these women (although several of them deserve it). I'm saying that this maybe shows a little insight into what the right thinks when it thinks of women's success in politics.
