Partly Cloudy, 45

We're within the 10-day forecasting window, and weather.com predicts that December 8th -- primary day for the Massachusetts special US Senate election -- will be partly cloudy with a high of 45 degrees. That would be good for turnout, if it holds. The forecast does call for rain the following day, however, so if that sneaks up 24 hours that would be bad for turnout.

On such things can a close election ride.

The long Thanksgiving weekend saw a big get for Alan Khazei, who was endorsed by the Boston Globe. The paper went out of its way to praise the other three Democrats, however; it might have meant more had they ragged on Coakley and Capuano.

I'm not sure these out-of-state endorsements (eg, Michael Bloomberg) help Khazei much, but perhaps it will put some people at ease about his foreign-policy credentials.

The Herald hosts a debate this morning at 10:30, which they'll be livestreaming over the paper's web site. Then we've got televised debates tomorrow and Wednesday. The clock is ticking....
