[mp3] The Fatal Flaw "Narrow Hours" + release party Friday @ TT The Bear's

Back in March we got the new single from Boston-based power-pop quartet THE FATAL FLAW, and while we were certain we were feeling this latest catchy-as-a-cold pop nugget from West Coast transplant Joel Reader, what was unknown was exactly when new album of the same name, Narrow Hours, was going to get the proper release party treatment. We posted the single as our Mp3 of the Week, and promised the band we'd follow up when they nailed down a show.

Show be nailed. This Friday, May 27 at T. T. The Bear's Place, the Fatal-4 celebrate the release of Narrow Hours on a local bill armed with more hooks than a meat locker (see flyer above for lineup). In order to not get shown up by the melodic rock beasts before them, the Flaw'd folk are giving away Narrow Hours to the first 100 people through the door. If you eliminate band members, plus-1's, girlfriends, rogue Middle East bartenders seeking asylum for five minutes, and the always-friendly staff of TTs, that means you have a REALLY good fucking chance of going home with some free music. Take it to Hi-Fi afterwards, show it a good time, and leave cab money on your dresser before passing out for the night.

Anyway, here's what we said about the title track back in March (and yes, ditty of dementia made it into print):

There’s already a bunch of songs written about Alzheimer’s disease, but they’ve all been generally forgettable. Perhaps the catchiest ditty of dementia is now the FATAL FLAW’s new single, “Narrow Hours,” which singer/guitarist Joel Reader penned about the residents of a local assisted-living community for Alzheimer’s patients, and especially a healthy elderly man who visits his sick wife each day despite her increasing memory loss. The bum-out storyline notwithstanding, Reader — formerly of San Francisco punk beacons the Mr. T Experience and the Avengers — maintains his uncanny ability to write a melody, and the song’s upbeat drop-D tuning belies its sad-face lyrical content. The lead track off an upcoming album of the same name, “Narrow Hours” gets the live treatment March 19 at Great Scott in Allston the proper release party rub-down May 27 at T.T. The Bear's Place. Commit it to memory in advance by grabbing the MP3 below.
