WHY HER? There’s no shortage of good stuff going on in Tennessee, but we’re pushing for Madi Diaz. We’re a little biased, as she spent a chunk of time here in Boston while at Berklee. We’re also a little late, as Diaz moved to Nashville after repeatedly attempting to break into clubs in Boston and Cambridge and not finding any luck. (Nice going, Boston.) The move proved worthwhile: Diaz’s new batch of songs have a natural pop ease that (almost) obscures their com-plexity.
BONUS BITS! She offers a maudlin cover of Whitesnake’s tight-panted rawk milestone “Here I Go Again,” and it’s waaaaaaay better than the original. Also: you just missed a secret show she played a couple weeks ago in Brighton.
