A dozen fresh faces on Boston's music scene
CALEB GROHCLASS OF 2012 TRACK • "CATASTROPHIC CULPRIT" [Listen] [Download]
We became privy to the folk smarts of Caleb Groh back in autumn, when the Phoenix took him to Allston's Ringer Park to perform acoustic for our pop-up show series. The common response to the footage? Allston never looked so mystical. Part of that had to do with the sensitive-but-affirming touch of Groh, the former Happiest Lion who served up emotionally raw new record Bottomless Coffee in November. Born in Connecticut the son of a military man, he came of age and found his voice in Florida — he has a story-telling authenticity and sound that can both engage in a coffee shop and fill an open-air field. In soulful touch with his acoustic guitar and banjo, the rising GHouse singer/songwriter already has two albums' worth of material ready for release, and plans to spend the year touring near and far.
