Though he lives without a phone or the Internet, Trimble is appreciative of technological innovations. "The Internet really made our lives worth living when you think about it, because now we're out and touring and it's better than sitting at home and doing nothing." He recently played shows in Philly, Baltimore, and DC — his first tour, ever.
Even as he continues to write new material today with the Flying Spiders, the band that will back him at the Great Scott gig, the interest in his '80s songs still dominates his live performances. "They like the old stuff so much," he says of his bandmates. "They've asked, 'Do you have any more old stuff you didn't put out back then that we could do?' So I said yeah, because I have a ton of stuff."
That ton of stuff? At least 100 more unreleased songs from the '80s, according to Trimble's rough count, just waiting to be discovered.
