One constant through the turnover and evolution has been producer Kurt Ballou of Converge, who has recorded all of Trap Them's releases at his Godcity Studios in Salem. And there's more to the Converge connection: Trap Them were on singer Jacob Bannon's Deathwish Incorporated label before signing their current deal with Prosthetic in 2009. Yet the current tour, which hits the Middle East downstairs this Sunday, marks Trap Them's first time on the road with their long-time friends. "It just somehow never happened," says McKenney, laughing. "I don't know what we're going to do after that. We've already played with so many great bands we wanted to play with."
So, consider the current tour is a sort of victory lap for Trap Them. Making the leap to the same stratum as Converge seems inevitable.
