Class of 2011: Eleven Boston bands to ring in the New Year

The bands you should be listening to this year

SHITALY | The wild card in our Class of 2011 feature, Shitaly, have but a handful of live gigs under their post-punk belt, but a recent aural foray into the crease of Enormous Room in Central Square has already garnered online comparisons to Bush Tetras, Grand Funk, and even Bauhaus. And, hey, we're already chuckling at the "goth-prog" tag we fostered in a recent "On the Download" plug. But throbbing bass lines, creepy guitars, and seductive screams can add up to only so much in a darkened room channeling an early '80s no-wave disco. Whether there stands to be an outpouring of "new" (initial?) material from Shitaly doesn't matter right now. If this piece is about buzz, then we say, "Viva Shitalia!"
