Charlie Freak was voted 2002's best local band by the readers of the Boston Phoenix. They get their name from a character in a Steely Dan song about a drug addict who sells his last possession (a golden ring) to buy one final dose. Together since 2001, this foursome brings together vastly different musical tastes and molds them into a very distinct style of funk, metal, rock, and rap. The rhytym section of Dan and Keith lay a tight foundation of heavy, thunderous and body moving grooves. Johnny's guitar playing carries the music to another level with his fiery guitar licks and blistering solos. Jay Lee makes it all work with his edgy, yet beautiful voice and pure passion for the stage. Believe the Hype!
