MORE ABOUT ERIC BARAO BAND

Eric Barao is a singer-songwriter from Massachusetts. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in songwriting.

Co-produced by powerpop icon Bleu, Eric’s debut solo album (April 2013) blends clever lyrics with indelible melodies to form an instant powerpop classic. The album features many guest musicians spanning Eric’s musical career over the last decade. Recorded and mastered by Ducky Carlisle (Norah Jones, Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi).

In 2000, Eric co-founded the powerpop/rock band The Cautions with guitarist/songwriter Jeff Caglarcan. In 2001, they released a critically acclaimed debut EP, and had risen to top 10 finalists in the AMA New Music Awards, a national contest sponsored by Dick Clark, Coca-Cola, CMJ and The American Music Awards. In 2005, they released their full-length follow-up album Proceed With...The Cautions, and continued to perform throughout the Northeast.

Eric currently performs as The Eric Barao Band with a lineup of veteran musicians from the Boston/Providence area, including Matt Boynton,
Carlene Barous, Matt Lydon & Matt Gillooly. Eric has also recorded music for radio and television, and film soundtracks including the indie film Turbocharged. He also contributed music for the film Balls of Fury, starring Christopher Walken. Eric appears on several albums by powerpop artist Bleu, Boston’s Air Traffic Controller, L.E.O. (an homage to Electric Light Orchestra featuring Bleu, Andy Sturmer of Jellyfish, Mike Viola and others).
