Radio Fix began when singer/songwriter Matt Lopez became familiar with the playing of guitarist Matt Nelson in the summer of 2006. Both musicians had a love of classic early rock pioneers, yet also an appreciation of more modern songwriting, in the vein of the Rolling Stones, John Lennon, Lou Reed and The Strokes. Soon Nate Marsden came aboard with his great and extensive background in music due, in part, to his father’s cousins – Gerry and Freddy Marsden – of Gerry and the Pacemakers. Then, as James Janocha sat down behind the kit, the four musicians clicked immediately and were on their way.
With Lopez’s expressive songwriting and playing, Nelson’s melodic and intricate, yet fierce guitar playing, and Nate’s powerful, driving bass playing their ideas came together right off the bat. Over the following
months their relationships strengthened both as friends and as musicians. The band went on to record a four song EP with Jimmy “Lonesome” Goodman of Leopard Studios, who previously worked with The Strokes on their “Is This It” album at his studio TransporterraumNYC.
Their sound and look emulates a distinct mix of underground 70’s rock with a relentlessly energetic groove.
