Ila Mawana is a 9-piece original reggae movement, pure roots reggae and experimental dub. From the most mellow to intense songs, iLa Mawana brings a unique and powerful energy to every live performance.
Touring through the Northeast over the past two years, iLa Mawana has been committed to bringing people together and spreading positive energy to good people. Dubbed "One of the best roots/jam bands coming out of Boston" -Ingenious Concepts, the band independently released a self-titled 6-track EP recorded and mixed in iLa Mawana's home studio in Brighton. The album is resonated with the warmth of the family, featuring thick rhythmic roots, and well-blended vocal and horn melodies. The group has a new studio album that is scheduled to release in the summer of 2010.
The iLa family has been honored to share the stage with great musical acts including Burning Spear, The Original Wailers, Toubab Krewe, Groundation,
Spiritual Rez, and Passafire.
