MORE ABOUT PURE FICTION
Formed in the late 90's by guitarist Scott Lerner and vocalist Jac-Lyn Gibson, the duo began writing together and very quickly enlisted the aid of drummer Scott Maher and bassist Josh Miller. Gibson's strong, emotive vocals are well balanced by Lerner's mixed chordal and melodic attack. The combination of Maher's pounding and at times intricate drumming and Mike Rubin's (Mike replaced Josh in 2003) driving bass lines hold it all together nicely.
On their latest disc, One Chance, Pure Fiction continues some of the same themes of their previous CD From All Sides, but sees the band growing both musically as well as lyrically; "Dead Weight" and "One Chance" come readily to mind. Produced by Chris Cugini and Scott Lerner at Appleman Studios, the new CD captures the energy of the band's live shows and hints at the band's influences while leaving a great deal to the imagination.
The band plans to record the follow up in the fall of 2006 and continues to play around Boston and the Eastern US.
