MORE ABOUT EMILY ELBERT

Emily Elbert is a 18-year-old Texas musician whose deep musical roots and love for creative expression led her to the development of her debut album, Bright Side. As third-generation professional musician, Emily wrote, arranged, performed, co-produced, and independently released the album in the summer of 2006. She began in the music world competing as a classical pianist, but after teaching herself to play guitar, found that her greatest passion was in singing music of her own. Hungry to learn, she soon became a part of the her school's national award-winning Renaissance chamber group, and studied jazz in programs of University of North Texas and Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

Emily was selected as one of four girls in the jazz choir of the 2007 Gibson/Baldwin Grammy Jazz Ensembles, which performed at the Grammy events in Los Angeles. She was named Grand Prize Winner in the 2007 Texas Music Project’s "Texas 10 Under 20" Contest, a winner of a four-year scholarship to Berklee College of Music, winner of Berklee's Performing Songwriter Contest, and winner of the Youth Talent Competition in the 2007 Old Settlers Music Festival. She was a finalist in the Dallas Songwriters Association Awards, a Runner-Up for Relix Magazine’s 2006 JAM OFF!, and the musical guest on an episode of “Good Morning Texas.” She most often performs at outdoor festivals, coffeehouses, benefits, and clubs.
