MORE ABOUT MAKE LISA RICH
Every so often often, a band comes along that makes us remember what pop music is all about -- fast, fun, sing-along tunes. Make Lisa Rich has emerged as a self-proclaimed leader of this genre. Drawing influences from '60s pop artists like Tommy James and the Shondells, the Hollies, the Animals, and the Ronnettes; the '70s slick stylings of Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson; the New Wave Punk and college rock of the '80s (Pixies, R.E.M, Replacements, etc) and, of course, the undeniable indie-pop sounds of the '90s -- from Fountains of Wayne to Sloan, Weezer and the Gigolo Aunts -- MLR packs one hell of a power pop punch. MLR has released two albums, outsmarted and Another Venus, both to considerable local acclaim. While their high-energy live shows continue to amaze even the most jaded of audiences . . .sometimes people actually dance
