MORE ABOUT ...OF THE HOUR

Of The Hour isn’t your typical band it seems. The band jokingly coined the phrase “Prog rock without the chops” to sarcastically label its genre bending music. The cast of characters, with their diverse musical background, contributes to OTH’s always changing music; Witham, (Keys/Guitars/Vocals) was raised on prog-rock and fusion, West (guitars) has been a jazz musician for most of his musical life, Sollecito (Bass, Fx) an indie rock kid, and Colangelo (Drums/Programming) is a jingle writer for a living. All of these ingredients together, are the only mix capable of making Of The Hour’s music. The last year has been a busy one for OTH. After the release of their first album, “Entropy”, the band was named “Breakthrough Band of The Year” by the publication, RI-Motif. Two of the bands songs; “Strange the Way It Is”, and “Evolution Of Things”, were also featured on XM Radio’s “The Radar Report”, a worldwide satellite radio broadcast, showcasing hot new unsigned bands. In addition to all of this, the band has had airplay on stations such as 95.5 WBRU (Providence, RI), Rock105TheDog (Syracuse, NY), and WBCN (Boston, Ma). The band has also been tearing up the charts on www.garageband.com . Two of the bands songs, “Robot Affliction”, and “Evolution of Things” have climbed up into the top echelon of their assigned genres, the songs currently ranked at ..10 (out of 1,644) and ..94 (out of 16,489). All of this exposure was topped off with a huge front page article in the Providence Sunday Journal. In the article, writer Wayne Miller followed the band for a few months, to get an inside look at the trials and tribulations of a small unsigned touring band on and off the road. This feature alone, generated some 10,000 web hits for the band in a single day. OTH is currently planning to go and record their second release in the late winter of 2006. The recording will feature more lush arrangements, as well as showcase the bands growing electronic style. This recording, plus an expanding touring schedule will keep the band busy in 2006
