MORE ABOUT FIKUS
With well over 100 years of combined music experience among its band members, Boston-based Fikus (pronounced FIKE-us) forges its own slippery groove, bridging jazz, funk and post-bop. Named after a Scottish term meaning agitated, fidgety and troublesome, the group plays an itchy mix of groove-laden original compositions as well as covers by John Scofield, the Meters, Herbie Hancock and others.
Relying mostly on istrumental repertoire, Fikus captivates the audience with its own musical language. The group can be seen gigging regularly around the Boston area, sometimes dipping its feet into Maine and New Hampshire frequenting such respected venues as The Middle East in Cambridge, MA and The Galley Hatch Pelican Club in Hampton, NH.
