MORE ABOUT A'TRIS

a'tris is a band that seems to never rest. Following the completion of their national tour in 2006, the band immediately began working on new material. They digitally released the single 'Orion' in January and have an August 21st street date for the EP 'Of the Commons' on Mark Records. This will be the band's second release on Mark Records. Mason Taylor, who is a'tris' front man, keyboardist and primary songwriter, said the band is "very fortunate to be able to release [their] debut and sophomore EP" on Mark Records (the Goo Goo Dolls, 10,000 Maniacs).

Formed in 2004 in Boston, a'tris released their debut album, appeal, in
November of 2005. appeal features songs familiar to their live show fans including "Green Land," "Duality," and "Cactus Bride." Due to their musical prowess on stage, the buzz from the band's live show has almost surpassed the great reviews of their album. Taylor and Kreher added co-writer/guitarist Ben Azar to their team in 2006. The current line-up includes Mike Brown on bass and Pete Koopmans on drums. Azar recorded guitars on the album "The Seven Sounds of Ohm" on NMC records. Koopmans is an accomplished drummer also from Berklee who most recently played drums for Hersheypark's renowned stage shows. Brown is a former member of The Drake Bell Band (whose singer is from the popular Nickelodeon TV show "Drake and Josh").

"The many musical moods of a'tris range from somber and reflective to irritable and fast-paced," the band said in a statement. Taylor "…enjoys performing for an audience that respects [his] lyrics." Taylor feels that the lyrics differentiate a'tris from their peers. "Some people find [my lyrics] obtuse. I make them obtuse enough to let listeners put their own spin on them," he said.
