HARMONIXIt's no secret that Central Square's Harmonix had a rough 2010, financially speaking. (As for the games? Dance Central is pretty much the only reason kids wanted a Kinect for Christmas.) The inventors of the massively popular Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises fell out with corporate parent Viacom after the company failed to sell a zillion copies of Rock Band 3. Late last week, reports surfaced that Harmonix was filing suit against Viacom and returning to its roots as an independent studio. Which is, in a word, awesome: the company's game-design chops and track record of success make it one to watch closely in 2011.
