The new band isn't Oasis by any stretch, and that's probably a good thing. For now, Gallagher is considering this a new start, so there's little over-the-top diva behavior going on with his touring band. Not yet anyway, he jokes. "Oh, for fuck's sake, if all goes according to plan they won't be allowed to look me in the eye in three years."
Until then, starting over can do great things for the creative spirit. But sometimes without having anyone to tell you when you're shit — a younger brother with a beady eye, for example — things can get indulgent. Does he have such an editor anymore? "Well, I haven't done anything shit yet."

"You don't know what you've got till it's gone," Janet Jackson once famously sampled, and how true it is. Only now that Noel Gallagher has left in a firestorm of brotherly acrimony can I truly take stock of my feelings toward Oasis.

- Beady Eye | Different Gear, Still Speeding
Beady Eye's eagerly awaited debut represents Liam Gallagher's uninspiring foray into the spotlight without Noel, his battle-weary brother and Oasis's chief songwriter.
