Goth-header-1000x50

• Former CAMBIATA mates CHRIS MOULTON and STAN DZENGELEWSKI (hardest name in Portland music to spell?) have a new project they're calling VANITYITES, and they're getting help from all kinds of former bandmates and other talented folks. They debuted at JEFF BEAM's album-release show and you can catch them next at fellow former Cambiata-type DAN CAPALDI's release show for his new project SEA LEVEL, January 29 at Empire.

• Speaking of new projects, ROY DAVIS is back from the Continent and has himself a brand-new bluegrass band he's calling the COLORADAS. BERNIE NYE, who's helped on PETE KILPATRICK discs, is a partner in crime, playing banjo, along with KRIS DAY on bass, ANDREW MARTELLE on fiddle, and JOE WALSH on mandolin, at least for their first show at Port City Music Hall, January 25. Kilpatrick fills out the bill.

• After a five-year run, heavy rockers BIG COFFIN HUNTERS are calling it a night. For the usual personal/getting older kinds of reasons, they just can't make a go of it anymore, but if you're looking for more material, check out their YouTube channel (//www.youtube.com/BigCoffinHunters1), where they've posted a bunch of material they'd been storing up for a DVD project.
