As a filmmaker, Mark Borchardt rivals Ed Wood in his primitive genius. The hilarious misadventures behind the making of his micro-budgeted horror film Coven are recorded in Chris Smith's 1999 documentary American Movie. Since then, Borchardt has ventured into acting, playing the prime suspect in Jon Springer's new suspense thriller Hagstone Demon (2009).
