Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine

Filed under: covers, parody, jazz, lounge, comedy

Recall the creepy, yet sort of awesome cover of Disturbed’s “Down With the Sickness” over the opening credits of 2004’s Dawn of the Dead? That was lounge singer and comedian Richard Cheese (a/k/a/ Mark Jonathan Davis) and that’s what he does. Cheese is responsible for quirky/funny/downright weird covers of hit songs from artists including Nirvana, Snoop Dogg, Korn, Radiohead, and even Sir Mix-A-Lot, sung in a lounge/swing style. (Imagine Limp Bizkit’s “Nookie” as sung by Frank Sinatra.) Sound weird? It sure is, but it’s also pretty entertaining. Cheese and his band Lounge Against The Machine stop by the Wilbur Theatre to regale you with tracks off albums like Aperitif for Destruction and I’d Like a Virgin.
