Avett Brothers + John Oates

This event occurs in the past, June 2 2011
609 Congress St, Portland, ME   (view map)

Filed under: folk, bluegrass, alt-country, country, americana

The State Theatre presents two shades of American rock music in concert tonight. The banjo-driven AVETT BROTHERS are informed equally by three-chord punk and Randy Newman as classic Americana bluegrass. They’re joined by JOHN OATES, whose (somewhat unpredictable) status as an ’80s yacht-rock emblem became so inflated by irony that it burst all over the musical landscape. People like him for real now. This one’s sold out, but keep an ear out for that last-minute ticket flood. 609 Congress St, 207.772.1540.
