Narragansett Cafe

The Narragansett is a big space with a bar, a pool table, and a jukebox. But ambiance is everything. Just paces up the street from the spot where the Newport ferry used to haul folks across the bay, the café is a hideout of sorts, a welcoming spot to duck into when you need to deep-six a responsibility or two. At night, it's a no-frills nightclub, with Johnny Hoy & the Bluefish or the Superchief Trio or Dave Howard's outfit bringing some boogie, twang, roots, or blues to the table. In other words, it's a real deal joint.
