Best Bird Calls With Breakfast
BREAKFAST IN THE WOODS
Wrapping up their 20th year in Rhode Island, the Nature Conservancy will hold a BREAKFAST IN THE WOODS on April 30 from 5 to 11 am at one of their newest projects, the headwaters of Narrow River, at the former Girl Scout Camp Nokewa in North Kingstown. State director Janet Coit will offer a free breakfast and a short nature walk to listen for the sounds of spring in the bird calls that fill the preserve. There are eight other preserves in South County, two in the East Bay, and one in Providence County that come under the protective wing of the Conservancy. In addition there are four “landscape” areas in the Conservancy’s purview, including the South County Landscape. Some interesting birds and other animals that the Conservancy keeps track of are yellow-throated vireos, blue-gray gnatcatchers, ringed boghaunter dragonflies, brook trout, Eastern spadefoot toads, smoky shrews, and Eastern hognose snakes. | Check out free nature programs all year long at nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/rhodeisland/activities
