El Tiburon Sports Bar & Restaurant
Life-altering sea feasts are offered at the Peruvian-inspired EL TIBURON SPORTS BAR & RESTAURANT. Seriously. El Tiburon’s back entrance leads to the charming (and immaculate) cafe (six four-tops and three two-tops) specializing in heaping seafood platters. Year-round low prices may fuel skepticism (Valley Street ain’t exactly Galilee), but the Parihuela ($14), a shellfish bounty with a light and flavorful tomato broth (the Peruvian take on cioppino), will blow your mind. It’s overloaded with juicy crustaceans and easily feeds two. Hook it up with one of the $3 Peruvian or Guatemalan beers (a cold Cusqueña — it gets no better). Landlubbers will love the linguica sandwich with fries for $5, or try the Peruvian take on pesto in the Tallarin Verde platter ($11), a basil-spinach sauce tossed with spaghetti and thin-sliced steak. The Fritto Misto special is divine, and the go-to fried fisherman platter here is the Jalea ($14), topped with their creole salsa. | 370 Valley Street, Providence | 401.273.9568
