Best Out-Of-The-Ordinary Hometown Eatery
Sonoma Grille
Sometimes Rhode Islanders don’t recognize culinary treasures right in their own backyard. Such might be the case for North Kingstown’s SONOMA GRILLE, which sits on a stretch of Post Road between Wickford and Quonset better known for its antique stores than its eateries. That’s a shame, because residents might just be missing out on some of the tastiest, most creative, and care-fully prepared dishes on the post-Cranston end of Post Road. And at moderate prices: half the entrees are under $16, and they will generously feed you for more than one meal, from baked haddock topped with lobster meat or meatloaf with mushroom gravy to chicken parm and penne or lobster/shrimp ravioli with pink vodka sauce. The burgers are a half-pound of Black Angus; the sand-wiches include bourbon-marinated tenderloin tips and gyro or chicken souvlaki. And don’t bypass the other Greek items on the menu, including the retsina. | 7366 Post Road, North Kingstown | 401.295-0800 | sonomagrilleri.com
