Best Down-Home Rhody Food In Downcity

Everyman

Owner Leah Reynolds takes the name of her restaurant — EVERYMAN — seriously, reaching out to local producers for ingredients and serving up old-fashioned southern Rhode Island diner food smack in the heart of the city. Clam cakes and chowder, stuffies and jonnycakes, snail salad and beef stew can be found among the appetizers, but even among the main dishes, there are Saugys and beans, meatloaf, mac and cheese, and fish and chips. She is proud of patronizing Rhody Fresh Dairy, Calise’s Bakery, Three Sisters Ice Cream, Little Rhody sodas, Kenyon’s Grist Mill, and Narragansett Brewery. And some of Reynolds’s favorite recipes, such as Leah’s chicken salad and Leah’s graham cracker squares, along with Phoebe’s blueberry Millie, from Phoebe Dunn’s sorely-missed Seekonk restaurant, are featured prominently in the menu. Homegrown music and visual art by locals are an important aspect of Everyman, with different musical events scheduled each evening and changing exhibits in the “Sky Gallery.” | 311 Iron Horse Way, Providence | 401.751.3630 |
