Kelley’s Deli

With a name like Kevin Kelley, your grandmother’s recipe for potato cakes, and an eclectic collection of Celtic artifacts, how could you not create an eatery called KELLEY’S DELI? Corre-spondingly, how could you not offer Irish bangers (steamed pork sausages imported from Brooklyn), eggs scrambled with corned beef, and corned beef and melted cheese sandwiches. For those potato cakes, Kelley mashes the potatoes, keeping a bit of texture, mixes them with salt, pepper, and herbs and slowly pan-fries them till they’re golden on both sides. He also makes a great “baked potato soup,” with large chunks of baked potatoes and plenty of cheddar melted into the broth. The menu does go way beyond the Irish specialties, with all-American sandwiches and salads, a Greek-tinged omelet, a Cajun chicken soup. All homemade, all very tasty — and that’s no blarney! |116 Granite Street, Westerly | 401.596.9896
