MUSICA DOLCE

That’s the translation of MUSICA DOLCE, an 18-year-old chamber orchestra of 30-plus musicians drawn from Rhode Island and Connecticut who play classical music from the Baroque era to the present, including several compositions specially commissioned from its assistant conductor Paul Rosenbloom. Helmed for many years by artistic director Joseph Ceo and director Kathleen Munroe, Musica Dolce has developed a music program that they present in local schools, and they’ve organized the Musica Dolce Youth String Ensemble of 35 to 45 students, ages 10 to 17, whose annual Halloween concert (in costume) has become a South County favorite. They perform almost monthly at venues throughout southern New England, fulfilling their mission of bringing affordable live chamber music to residents and offering a creative outlet for serious but part-time chamber musicians, including strings (even harp), woodwinds, brass, percussion, and keyboards. | 533 Switch Road, Wood River Junction | 401.596.4600 | musicadolce.org
