PROVIDENCE CUTTING SESSIONS
Get the creative juices flowing at AS220’s PROVIDENCE CUTTING SESSIONS, a jazz program (held the third Sunday of the month from 5:30 to 8 pm) designed to encourage musicians of all ages and skill range to join in on “Real Book” standards, or to bring their original compositions to be performed with new friends. The series has been a rousing success thanks to host Mike Bernier and the continued support from AS220 director Bert Crenca, who we recently spotted in the crowd, kicking back with a glass of house red. School teacher and music instructor by day, Bernier is an encouraging and approachable host. And no worries, unlike the old-time days of musicians getting “cut” from improv sessions, the Providence Cutting Sessions is an al-inclusive outlet for cutting your teeth and strutting your stuff. All instruments are welcome; $5 at the door. | 115 Empire Street, Providence | 401.831.9327 | as220.org
