Sauce On The Side

Cowboy Ketchup has plenty of lime juice, but it's the smoky barbecue taste that hits you first. And when a Heinz-for-life guy admits he'd use it on French fries, you know it's good! Produced by Linda Kane and Aimee Fontaine for their enterprise called SAUCE ON THE SIDE, the ketchup is made in small batches with the surprise of anchovies in its recipe. The Sauce gals also make Rhode Island Red — "hot sauce with an attitude" — from fresh, hand-mashed habañeros. The carrots in the hot sauce keep it from having a tongue-numbing fieriness, and they give it a distinctive sweetness that plays against the jalapeños and habañeros.
