Don't let the new (and immaculate) locale fool you — LJ'S BBQ remains the real deal since moving from Douglas Avenue to a strip plaza on the East Side near the Pawtucket/Providence border. Owners Linda and Bernie Watson take pride in feeding their devoted customers, particularly during the weekend brunch, served from 10 am til 2 pm. Some people enjoy a light meal to start the day, but many of us are looking to feed a hangover and go back to sleep. Enter entrées like the LJ Benedict and the Big Mess, hefty skillets based on tasty pulled pork and kicked up with a chipotle hollandaise sauce. Bernie's hand-packed Crab Cakes Benedict is equally sumptuous, as is the Pancake Sampler — one traditional, one sweet potato, and one buttermilk bacon crumble corn cake. Bernie is a bourbon aficionado, so wash it all down with the signature "Trailer Park Mary," with Heaven Hill bourbon and garnished with a Slim Jim.
