At least, that’s how it started out. A collection of artists in the old Foundry Building pooled resources and opened their studios to sell their wares at the holidays. More than 25 years later, the FOUNDRY ARTISTS SHOW is still going strong, giving attendees a chance to view or purchase work from more than 60 regional artists. Each year, a juried selection guarantees a dozen or more new artists a slot, and the caliber of work remains consistently high. The show now stretches over two weekends, with live music and refreshments — the better to relax the weary consumers and keep them looking. For it definitely takes some time to cover the many genres of craft and art at the show: from photography and painting to woodworking and weaving; from small-batch chutney to handmade soap; from jewelry to blown-glass ornaments.
