Loie Fuller's

As visually wondrous as cities, styles, and time periods can get, Paris at the Art Nouveau turn of the 20th century was hard to beat. But you don’t have to step into H.G. Wells’s time machine to get there, just into LOIE FULLER’S, a restaurant that captures the period and presents it to us in a lovely jewel box of a building. Local designer Kyla Coburn has done wonders, painting walls with faces out of Gustav Klimt paintings, the figures draped in flowing neo-classical gowns. The Art Nouveau theme is most elaborate in the dining room, where thick mahogany tendrils enclose freeform mirrors. Namesake Fuller was also geographically displaced, born in Illinois but eventually the toast of Paris, dramatically lit silk flowing about her in improvisational dances that inspired Isadora Duncan. Feel free to dance to spring between drinks and appetizers. | 1455 Westminster Street, Providence | 401.273.4375
