We’ve shouted out some outrageous Best pizza pies over the years (quahog pizza, hot wiener pizza, etc.) but TWIN’S PIZZA has taken it to the proverbial next level. Yes, people, it’s shepherd’s pie pizza! No, seriously, this starch-and-carbs monstrosity has been a steady special all winter, so someone must be ordering it. Twin’s has been operated by the same family for more than 45 years and they serve up one of the best Sicilian pizzas around, along with an extensive menu of seafood, veal, and pasta entrees, plus the usual array of grinders and apps. The shepherd’s pie does not veer from its namesake; take their perfect cheese pizza (crispy and flaky, not too greasy), and cover it with ground beef and corn, then slather on a one-inch layer of homemade garlic mashed potatoes and you have a platter of comforting goodness for only $11.95.
