For the carb-conscious and gluten-free among us, the “no pants” burritos (and quesadillas) at FREAKY BURRITO are a blessing: all the trimmings, depending on your choice, with none of the flour tortillas, plus black beans or refried pintos. The influence of local diners is seen in the names of two quesadilla possibilities: “Millie’s Special,” with chouriço and roasted peppers, and “Bud’s Lunch,” with grilled chicken, cheese, and jalapenos. Owner Erin Jacob has a sense of humor, and it shows not only in the names of the sandwiches but in the psychedelic walls, the long diner booth turned sideways, and the jokey, interactive service. The food is as crisp as the lettuce in the tacos; the sauces and marinades are full-flavored; the grilled vegetables are thoroughly cooked (thank you, thank you).
