It’s always fun to find a tucked-away spot that lets you imagine you have a different life. So when you walk between the yachts towering above you in dry dock to get to the gleaming bright sailors’ hangout called BELLE’S CAFÉ, you could pretend that you’re just coming to check on renovations, repairs, or polishings to your seagoing craft. But you’re really there for one of Belle’s great meals (breakfast or lunch) and for the view into Newport Harbor, across to Goat Island or over to the Pell Bridge. Breakfast features everything from bagels or granola to the “slammin’ shipyard sandwich” — eggs and cheese with sausage or ham on an English muffin. At lunch, the hearty “shipshape cheesesteak” is matched by a “kickin’ quesadilla,” but the grilled chicken, lobster rolls, and salads will also tone up your sea legs. And, if you really are headed out on the Bay, call ahead for a box lunch!
