Theater productions are cropping up all over South County this year, from courthouses to coffeehouses and everywhere in between. But the most scenic venue for staging is THE TOWERS in Narragansett, which recently hosted a Cornerstone Playhouse production, and there are plans for many more. The stone Towers arch over Ocean Road; they were left standing after a fire in 1900 destroyed the wooden structures of the casino attached to them. The state purchased the property in the late ’60s and turned it over to the town, which began to renovate the landmark in the early ’90s. The dance floor on the third story has been the scene of hundreds of weddings and events over the past decade, and it has now entered a new era of being a dramatic space.
