The locals still call it “06,” because some of them remember that it was once a working fire station. But HOSE CO. #6 was turned into a restaurant in the mid-’70s and renovated with stained glass windows and an atrium in the ’80s. Still and all, homage to its heritage is prominently displayed on the wall in the bar: a glass case holds eight brass nozzles, the largest one slightly dented from use. Back in the dining area, black-and-white photos from the fire station’s heyday are fun to look at. But the wackiest times at Hose Co. #6 are the Saturday night King’s Feasts (kingsfeast.com), a combination medieval play and six-course dinner, at which no utensils may be used. Sunday and Tuesday nights have great twofers: $17.99 for soup, entrée, dessert, and coffee or soda — for both o’ ya!
