Peace Dale Arts Initiative
Peace Dale is one of those historic mill villages that have faded into the heritage of Rhode Island. But the Peace Dale Neighborhood Revitalization Committee and the PEACE DALE ARTS INITIATIVE have held a summer festival the past few years, and they were instrumental in getting local artists to create works of art along a quarter-mile stretch of the bike path that runs through the village. A long mural by Marc Masone shows a winding path that goes over hill and dale and eventually out to the galaxy. The Village, a large stained glass panel by Laureen Watjen, has local streets and buildings within its frame. A clever montage of broken crockery and bicycles, The Wall, is by Karen Stackow and Keri Lyn Plunkett; and a metal sculpture assembled from abandoned industrial scraps, Flora Rustica, is by Nancy Dean.
