Best Best Reason To Visit Rhode Island Mall
Haven’t taken a walk through the desolate Rhode Island Mall lately? The next time you’re shopping for a jersey and cap to match, try the local guy at First Place Sports on the second level (right next to Papa Gino’s and Midland Records, for us old-timers). Owner Frank Silva, perhaps the most soft-spoken salesman in modern history, is still there — and has been for more than 15 years — and no, he doesn’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. First Place is one of the few places left where you can cop a fitted New Era cap for under $30, and the tiny shop is usually the first on the block with the high-demand fan fare like Johnny Damon Yanks jerseys and those Terrible Towels that had the local Steelers fans pulling out their crusty leather jackets in what was the biggest farce in professional sports history. (Super Bowl XL was fixed. Sincerely, Bitter Seahawks Fan). Support the local guy at First Place Sports at Rhode Island Mall — where there’s never a problem parking!
