Don’t you love antique and consignment stores where one room leads into another and then another and yet another? Perhaps that quality of stepping through the looking-glass gave Cheshire Cats its name. This shop takes you through bygone decades like a time machine: here a set of cobalt blue plates from the ’30s, there a ’50s cookie jar, here a ’40s drop leaf table, there a stack of Life magazines from the ’60s. It’s hard to say which era applies to the novelty bourbon bottle with the large Elvis head for a cap. The room out front has bureaus, tables, chairs, bookcases; two small rooms behind it hold china sets and kitchen implements. Farther back, one nook has bottles, flatirons, and old tools; another has books and old records. It’s a great place to find your particular retro style and carry it through. 333 Main Street, Wakefield | 401.792.0035 | ccat268@cox.net
